Karen Hunter is an accomplished American journalist, publisher, talk show host, author, and CEO of Karen Hunter Media. She has made a remarkable impact in various fields, garnering recognition as the host of the highly acclaimed "hottest show in the galaxy," The Karen Hunter Show on SiriusXM. Starting her radio career at SiriusXM in October 2014, Hunter's two-hour show expanded to three hours, and within a short span of two years, she not only became the host but also took on the responsibility of programming the entire Urban View Channel.

Under her guidance, the channel introduced popular shows such as The Laura Coates Show, The Clay Cane Show, Heather B. Live, The Lurie Daniel Favors Show, The Reecie Colbert Show, and The Shermichael Singleton Show. She further expanded her influence by launching a Sunday lineup called Sunday Civics, featuring Dr. Robin Smith, Qasim Rashid, Omi Bell, and L. Joy Williams. In 2023, Hunter brought The Women's Empowerment podcast network to light, adding to her already impressive portfolio.

Hunter's contributions extend beyond her radio career. In 2020, during the peak of the pandemic, she spearheaded the launch of Knarrative, which has since become the largest Africana Studies classroom in the world. Knarrative serves as a platform and repository for the promotion and advancement of Africana Studies. Additionally, in 2021, Hunter introduced Knubia, the social media arm of Knarrative, further amplifying the initiative's impact.

In 2022, Hunter ventured into the realm of fashion by launching The Global Majority, an apparel company that combines elements of history, fashion, and social consciousness. Through this endeavor, she aims to celebrate people and their ideas that inspire greatness.

Karen Hunter's illustrious career also includes achievements as a journalist, publisher, and author. She started as a sports reporter for the New York Daily News, covering the Nets and US Open before joining the news department covering everything from the death of Michael Jordan’s father to the scandal at the Mets spring training. In addition to sports news, she covered crime and business before joining the editorial board where she played a crucial role in the award-winning news teams that secured the Pulitzer Prize and the Polk Award in 1999. During her tenure at the New York Daily News, she made history as the first African American female news columnist. She taught journalism at New York University from 1996 to 1998.

In January 2002, Hunter joined the faculty of Hunter College as an Assistant Visiting Professor in the Department of Film and Media Studies, where she currently holds the position of Distinguished Lecturer. She also had a successful three-year stint as a morning radio talk show host in New York City.

As a writer and publisher, Karen Hunter has made a lasting impact. In 2007, she founded Karen Hunter Publishing, an imprint of Pocket Books at Simon & Schuster, through which she has released a diverse range of books. Several of her co-authored works have reached the esteemed New York Times bestseller list.

Her perspectives have been featured on various media platforms, including CNN's Paula Zahn Now, where she shared insights on atheism in America. She has also called for boycotts and made notable statements regarding political figures and social issues.

Karen Hunter was born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, and graduated from Marylawn of the Oranges High School. She earned a B.A. in English literature from Drew University. Currently residing in South Orange, New Jersey, Hunter continues to make significant contributions to the fields of media, education, and fashion. Through her platform, she empowers and enlightens others, leaving a lasting impact.
