"MIA" synopsis:

Mia, is the origin story of retired inspector Jack Bertolino as a young undercover, NYPD narco-busting detective and his relationship with Mia, his confidential informant.

Mia, a former Miss Colombia, has the kind of beauty that can make a grown man contemplate leaving his wife, his job, and his kids. She’s a complex character, with a painful backstory, who signs on with Jack to help him infiltrate, and take down, a heavy hitter in the Colombian drug trade. Mia has ice water in her veins and is already responsible for delivering large amounts of cocaine, and millions of the cartels cash into the government’s coffers.

This is Jack and Mia’s story. How Mia became a confidential informant, her evolving relationship with Jack, and how the life and death case they break wide open becomes the prequel to The Devil’s Necktie.

Blurbs/ Reviews:

“MIA is the way thrillers ought to read: unforgettable characters, non-stop action, and explosive scenes. Jack Bertolino is a perfect hero—relentless and smart; and Mia is thoroughly intriguing. I highly recommend it.” – Terry Shames, Macavity Award winner

"Readers of John Lansing's Mia better grab their G-suits because he duck-tapes you into a luge on page one and sends you straight down the face of the Matterhorn. A breathless and welcome prequel to the Jack Bertolino series " -- Craig Faustus Buck, award-winning author of Go Down Hard

“The plotting is tight, the dialogue is convincing, and Mia is eminently capable and surprisingly upright, making this novel an entertaining read.” “A fast-paced yarn about drugs, money, cartels, and the horrors they bring.” – Kirkus Review

“Jack Bertolino’s back — so slide over Reacher and Bosch and Keller. Fans already familiar with this series will know exactly what I’m talking about. John Lansing has created such a believable, formidable hero that readers will be left wanting more Bertolino for years to come. This high-octane prequel is so filled with action and unexpected turns, you won’t be able to put it down.” — Dietrich Kalteis, best-selling author, winner of the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence for Best Crime Novel.

“John Lansing blurs the lines between good and evil, victim and villain in this complex, high-octane thriller. Crime writing at its best, I read this in a day.” - Lisa Towles, award winning author of Terror Bay

"John Lansing’s latest, Mia, a prequel to the first five books in the Jack Bertolino crimes series, is masterful. It showcases Lansing’s formidable talent at exploring the realities of the drug cartels’ myopic focus on profit and power and is paired with his ability to take the reader into a believable web of danger that touches the provocative confidential informant Mia, his team, his family, and himself. This is a page-turner and Lansing is at the top of his game."

-Jule Selbo, author of the award-winning Dee Rommel Mystery Series.

“Lansing’s characters leap off the pages into settings that are incredibly vivid. His dialogue is real and relatable, helping to carry a storyline that will inspire you to flip pages late into the night. MIA is an amazing read!” – Steven Manchester, #1 bestselling author, The Menu
